What is the difference between digital broadcasting and analog broadcasting?

Digital IP network broadcasting: network broadcasting system is based on IP data network, the audio signal through digital encoding in the form of data packets according to TCP\IP protocol in the local area network or wide area network transmission, and then decoded by the terminal pure digital one-way, two-way and multi-directional audio sound reinforcement system.

Analog Broadcasting (traditional broadcasting) and the difference between digital broadcasting:

Analog Broadcasting (Traditional Broadcasting)

1. Backward technology, poor compatibility and scalability

The existing broadcasting basically adopts the working mode of analog transmission and manual management, the system is vulnerable to environmental interference, and crosstalk is easy to occur when multi-channel broadcasting. Can not achieve digital format audio files in the terminal directly play, can not be connected to the network, in order to truly realize the sound source digital, play management automation.

2. single function

At present, broadcasting equipment can only be used for programs within 6 channels, which cannot meet the requirements of modern engineering for high-quality and up to dozens of channels of program broadcasting.

3. Complex installation and inconvenient maintenance

Since the constant voltage cable broadcasting is configured in strict accordance with the principle of impedance and power matching, the amplifier is often burned out due to a transformer or speaker failure, affecting the entire broadcast.

4. Lack of manageability and inability to remotely control

Since only dedicated playback equipment (tapes, records, CD players, etc.) and computers that store MP3 files can be used as audio sources, special personnel are required to manage broadcast content in special locations. Therefore, modern technology cannot be used to effectively manage broadcast audio sources, and remote playback control cannot be carried out, which is not conducive to the flexible application of broadcast systems and causes waste of resources.

Digital IP Network Broadcasting

a) Stronger functionality

The pure digital broadcasting system covers all the functions of the traditional broadcasting system. And realized the function of audio on demand (AOD). And make full use of the resources of the network, can get the audio resources on the network anytime and anywhere. Since each terminal has an independent IP address, it can control any terminal to play different programs.

B) Better sound quality

Due to the use of network transmission technology, the audio signal has no transmission interference and distortion. MP3 compression algorithm is adopted to occupy low network bandwidth (8k-128k) and ensure sound quality fidelity. After testing, 44.1khz 16bit sampling 128kbps rate is adopted to compress passband (line output) 20-16khz, distortion ≤ 3%

c) Higher reliability

The unstable factors of the broadcasting system mainly depend on the quality of the transmission line, and the unreasonable transmission line or the constant voltage power amplifier that causes instability or even burns high power. With the help of mature Ethernet network communication technology, each terminal device is equivalent to a simple computer connected to the network. Users only need to ensure the smooth flow of the network, without adding other maintenance.

d) Easier installation

Simple installation. As long as the installation point has the following three conditions: there is an AC 220V socket, there is a standard Ethernet access socket (RJ45) and a position to place the digital broadcasting terminal (the volume of a speaker).

In summary, the difference between digital broadcasting and analog broadcasting mainly lies in the transmission mode of the signal and the audio quality. Digital broadcasting has higher anti-interference ability and security, can provide higher audio quality and more business types, and can also make better use of spectrum resources. However, since digital broadcasting requires more advanced equipment and higher investment costs, it has not completely replaced analog broadcasting at present. With the continuous progress and development of technology in the future, digital broadcasting has gradually become the mainstream.
