How to place the speaker position to achieve the best effect?

Before solving how to place speakers in professional sound reinforcement, we first understand: what is professional sound reinforcement? What are the main types of speakers in professional sound reinforcement?

Professional sound reinforcement is simply to carry out pre-amplification, gain, pressure limit and other functional processing on the weak electrical signals transmitted by signal source equipment (microphone, CD player, etc.), and then transmitted to the speaker by the power amplifier to amplify the sound.

Professional sound reinforcement is mostly used in conference rooms, multi-function halls, concerts and other occasions, so the speaker types are generally ceiling speakers, professional speakers, and linear array speakers. We are mainly talking about the placement of professional speakers and linear array speakers.

Sound box is a kind of energy conversion equipment, which converts audio electrical signals into sound, and reproduces and amplify the telecommunication transmitted from microphones or other sound sources. Different occasions have different sounds, and the effects to be expressed are also different. We can enhance the effects we need by placing speakers. In addition to subwoofers, speakers have high-frequency units and low-frequency units. Some speakers also have intermediate frequency units. High-frequency units have strong directivity and penetrating power, while low-frequency units have strong appeal and shock. Therefore, according to different sizes and different uses, the placement of speakers is also different.

1. In the conference room, the sound box is mainly used to emphasize the sound of the meeting content, but it does not need to make people excited and shocked, and it also needs to avoid howling. Therefore, generally, the two sound boxes can be installed on the wall outside the conference table at a height of 2.5m and tilted downward (the hoisting height depends on the site situation), and they are in the leadership position or the position and orientation of the display equipment.

If the speakers are of the same size and the number is 4 or more, all of them can point to the conference table to make the sound amplification of the conference more uniform. If the sizes are different, the large-size speakers can refer to the placement of the two speakers. If it is installed on the ground, it will be placed on both sides of the display device not lower than the lowest height of the display device. Without the display device, the height of the speaker will be slightly higher than the height of the person sitting.

In large-scale comprehensive occasions, the use and types of speakers have increased, and the corresponding placement positions are not the same. Professional speakers, linear array speakers, subwoofer speakers, return to listen to speakers, sound speakers, etc.

(1) How far is the placing distance of the sound box? The professional sound box wall is installed at the height of 2.5m on both sides of the stage (the hoisting height depends on the situation of the scene). The angle of the left and right sound boxes is close to the middle audience area, and the angle is usually 10 degrees to 30 degrees.

The floor-mounted sound boxes are placed on both sides of the stage entrance, covering the front and middle audience areas of the venue. Be careful not to stick the sound boxes close to the wall and keep a proper distance (above 50CM), otherwise the reverberation will be too large, resulting in a "boom" sound.

(2) line array speakers are generally hoisted on both sides of the stage.

By adjusting the radiation angle of the speaker unit in the line array group, the speaker unit with the vertical main axis is used for long-distance radiation, and the audience in the near area of the lower end cover of the curved part of the linear column.

(3) We should pay attention to the super appeal and shock effect applied to the subwoofer, and the vibration generated by the subwoofer is also strong, so wall mounting or hoisting (except for matching linear array) is generally not considered, and it is usually installed on the stage on the ground to create a visual and auditory coordination effect with the people performing on the stage.

(4) The listening speaker is to provide monitoring for stage performers. Different numbers of listening speakers are placed in different positions. A pair of listening speakers are usually placed on both sides of the stage and point to the center of the stage.

If the four return speakers are evenly distributed on the edge of the stage, pointing to the center of the stage. If the band is performing, it is necessary to install a listening speaker in the position of the performer. The use of back-to-hear speakers is very easy to cause howling, and the use of hanging to install back-to-hear speakers can be relatively better to avoid howling phenomenon.

(5) The auxiliary speaker is used when the main speaker cannot uniformly sound the whole venue, and is used to supplement the speaker with uneven sound reinforcement or dead area.

Its installation method can be wall-mounted or hoisted, pointing to the audience area where the main sound amplification cannot reach. It should be noted that if the venue is too narrow and long and the sound amplification speaker is increased, the sound amplification speaker shall be delayed if the interval between the sound amplification speaker and the main sound amplification speaker exceeds 17 meters, and the delay time shall be adjusted to achieve consistent sound amplification effect.
