What are the types of speakers?

Loudspeakers, also known as "speakers", are important components for sound amplification in electronic devices. According to different designs, materials and functions, speakers can be roughly divided into the following categories.

Cone speaker: Cone speaker is the most common type of speaker, and its core includes a cone and voice coil. This type of speaker is characterized by simple structure, low cost and high reliability. The sound quality and performance of a cone speaker depends to some extent on the material and design of the cone.

Globe speaker: The main feature of the dome speaker is that its voice coil directly drives a spherical dome, allowing the frequency of the sound to reach a higher upper limit. This design makes the dome speaker sound resolution and sensitivity higher, suitable for high-fidelity sound system.

Horn speaker: A horn speaker is a speaker that focuses sound waves into a straight line, thereby increasing the sound transmission distance. Horn speakers are highly directional, so they are often used in stereo and surround sound systems.

Flat panel speaker: A flat panel speaker is a flat sheet that converts electrical signals into sound waves. Its working principle is that when an electric current passes through the thin plate, the thin plate will vibrate in the form of a sine wave, thereby producing sound. This kind of speaker is characterized by small space occupation and uniform sound quality, which is suitable for modern home and car audio systems.

Piezoelectric speakers: Piezoelectric speakers use the piezoelectric effect to produce sound. When pressure is applied to some crystals, the crystals produce an electrical signal, and conversely, when a voltage is applied to these crystals, the crystals produce mechanical pressure. Piezoelectric speakers use this principle to make piezoelectric crystals vibrate by applying voltage to produce sound.

These are some common types of speakers, each with its own unique characteristics and application scenarios. For consumers, which type of speaker to choose mainly depends on the use environment, sound quality requirements and budget and other factors.
